2013 Arizona State Fair Features Out-of-this-World Opportunities

Phoenix, Arizona, (August 1, 2013) – Make the trek to the 2013 Arizona State Fair between October 11 and November 3 (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays) to enjoy 18 days of thrilling rides, unique attractions and fabulous food!  This year’s Fair features several new and exciting attractions including Star Trek: The Exhibition, The Great American Duck Race, Life in the Ice Age, Tyzen the Hypnotist, Secret Circus, Cartoon Alley Demonstrations, and six new Midway rides.  In addition, two all new respite areas will debut: The Hangout for adults and Play Space, featuring fun, indoor activities for kids eight and under. Entertainers from multiple genres and generations will shine in the Arizona State Fair Concert Series. This year’s diverse line-up has something for everyone, including legendary headliner Jerry Lewis, Trace Adkins, ZZ TOP, The Wanted, Prince Royce, and Snoop Dogg AKA Snoop Lion.  Additional acts fairgoers can enjoy for free with paid Fair admission include Alabama Shakes, Zendaya, Billy Currington,  Megadeth, Old School Jam, and the KIDZ BOP KIDS first live concert.

As always, fairgoers can enjoy a variety of interactive activities, demonstrations, and sampling opportunities, including Native Spirit Dancers, the Great American Petting Zoo, the Arizona State Fair 5K and Fun Run, and Beerfest presented by Hensley Craft Beer Division. Annual fan favorites will return, including the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Public Safety Days, High Fly’n Zip Lines, Kerr’s Farm Tours presented by Arizona Milk Producers, Model Railroad Display presented by The Thunderbird Model Railroad Club, and Thrill The World – Thriller Dance.  Fair traditions such as animal and competitive exhibits will also be on hand, as well as contests for everyone, including Coco’s Pie Eating and Sonic’s Frozen T-shirt Contest. Arizona’s youth will compete and parade their accomplishments during Youth Week activities October 23-27 which will culminate with the Sale of Champions, an auction benefiting Arizona youth and their animals, on October 27. Over 12,000 exhibits are expected this year, including more than 2,500 animals to be displayed in the barns.

There will be plenty for the sports-minded to see as well, including serious arm-twisting at the annual United States Armwrestling Championships, and daredevil antics at the Demolition Derby, BMX Freestyle Team, and GCS Promotions FMX Show. In addition, more dirt churning excitement will be available at Quarter Midget Racing, High School Rodeo, All-Indian Rodeo, and All-Star Monster Trucks.

The Read & Ride Program returns by popular demand to promote literacy. Children ages 5-14 are encouraged to read three books in order to earn three Fair ride passes.  Riding a wave of success over the past twelve years, the program motivated approximately 9,477 children to read 28,431 books in order to earn 28,431 ride passes during the 2012 Fair.  As a result, over 275,895 ride passes donated by Ray Cammack Shows have been distributed at the annual Fair to Arizona children since the program’s debut in 2000.

A tradition in the state for nearly 130 years, the Arizona State Fair consistently supplies a healthy dose of family entertainment, homespun creations, and attractions for all ages and interests.  It continues to attract numerous Arizonans each year to its location at 19th Avenue and McDowell Road, including last year’s attendance of 1,154,271.

The 129th annual Arizona State Fair runs October 11 to November 3 (Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays) and hosts a variety of fun-filled attractions, activities, and rides for all ages at its traditional location at 19th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

On weekdays, gates open at 12 noon, and at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission: $10 for Adults; $5 for Seniors (ages 55+) and Kids (ages 5-13); Children under 5 years are FREE
