LEGO® Rides, 4D Cinema & More in Store for State’s Newest Interactive Attraction at Tempe’s Arizona Mills
PHOENIX, Ariz., Feb. 16, 2015 – It’s one of Arizona’s most hotly anticipated attractions ever, and it’s set for an April debut.
LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Arizona, the first attraction of its kind to open in the state, will boast two LEGO® rides, a 4D Cinema and endless opportunities for creative play when it opens to the public in Tempe’s Arizona Mills mall Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m.. In addition to massive, large-scale models, LEGO® building areas and festive party rooms for birthday celebrations, the 40,000 square-foot facility will feature a Master Model Builder responsible for maintaining and updating LEGO® MINILAND models.
Arizona’s newly crowned Master Model Builder is Alecsander Posta of Phoenix, a caregiver for the developmentally disabled who beat out more than 100 other contenders in a Master Model Builder competition held last month at the Arizona Mills mall food court. A graphic design student with a sharp eye for aesthetics and an innate ability to interact well with children, Posta plans to utilize his unique skillset to introduce others to the endless possibilities that abound when creating using LEGO® bricks.
“Who wouldn’t want to play all day and get paid for it? It’s a dream come true for me,” Posta said. “I can’t wait for LEGOLAND® Discovery Center to open and to see the children’s faces when they get a glimpse of what’s inside.”
Arizona’s ultimate indoor LEGO® playground is set to open April 22. Hours of operation will be: Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (last admission at 5:30 p.m.); Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Last admission 4 p.m.) The LEGO Shop is open Monday – Saturday 10 .am. – 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Please check our website for the most up to date operating hours as they sometimes change.
